Knight to Face Torres in WBC World Title Bout!
August 18, 2009

(AUG 18) Ava "The Lady of Boxing" Knight 5-0-2 (2KO), of Chico, California, will be fighting for the WBC Super Flyweight Championship of the World against Ana Maria Torres, 18-3-2 (11 KO), of Mexico on August 29, 2009, in  Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.

Team Knight told WBAN, "Contracts have been signed and Ava is steadily training and is in tremendous condition for this fight. Ava the WBC No.2 Bantamweight in the world will come down to Super Flyweight to fight Champion Torres.

This is Knight's strongest bid at usurping a title. She's already won the IFBA's North American  Bantamweight belt after she decision Kaliesha West last November in Friant, Ca. Before that, in July of 2008, she KO'd Noriko Kariya in the fifth round, in Bergen, New Jersey.

We feel very confident that Ava will be successful in this venture and maybe doors will start opening up for her."
