Garside Wins Title at Home!
By Margaret Canty
June 7, 2009

(JUNE 7)  Border City Boxing Club's Jeannine "Heartless" Garside, 126,  returned to her hometown of Duncan, BC on June 6th to fight for the WBC International Featherweight Championship. Garside became the new WBC Featherweight Champion by defeating Blooklyn's Dominga Olivo, 125, by unanimous decision.

Jeannine suffered a second round headbutt that opened a cut over her left eye that later required stitches. Quick thinking and experience on the part of her countermen J.R. Larkin and Josh Canty made the ten round bout continue without any interference from the gash over her eye.

This was the first time a boxing event of this status has been held on Vancouver Island and the crowd loved the fact that the main event was one of their own. Way to go "Heartless".
