Two Womens' Bouts in Las Vegas
Photos/report by Mary Ann Owen
May 11, 2009

(MAY 11) On Saturday night, at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel, in Las Vegas, Nevada, there were two womens' bouts on the card. Both of the female bouts served women's boxing very well.

In one bout, Melissa Hernandez, 125, won by unanimous decision over Jeri Sitzes; 123. Final judges scores were 60-54, 69-55, and 59-55. In the second bout, Sweden's Donatella "DynOmite" Hutlin, 130, won by a fourth round TKO over Jasica Rojo, 131.

Hernandez and Sitzes showed the Vegas crowd what real professional female boxing was all about. Their fight was exciting in every one of the 6 rounds. Hernandez was a crowd pleaser as she was showing off her boxing skills. Sitzes and Hernandez left a lasting impression on the boxing fans this night, including Mike Tyson, Andre Ward, Michael Dokes, Sharif Bogere, and Sugar Shay Smith.

In the second bout, Hultin dropped Jasica Rojo in the fourth round with a hard right hand. Hultin won the first two rounds on the score cards. It was a very competitive fight, Rojo was tough and came to fight but could not with stand the power of Hultin punches.
