Archived News on Fight in 2009:  Chris Namús Wins by Decision in Uruguay
February 15, 2009

(FEB 15) On Thursday night at the Palacio Peñarol, in Montevideo, Uruguay, Chris “Bombon Asesino” Namús, 140, of Montevideo, Uruguay, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Nicole Woods, 140, Stone Mountain, Georgia, USA. The judges scores were 98-93, 100-88, 99-94.

According to a press release that WBAN received, it was reported that Nicole was down in round three, and received an eight-count in round four.

In a translation (loose) the release said, when people are standing up to watch the fight, shouting, with unusual fervor, saying, “Uruguay, Uruguay!” it is because something great is happening in the ring. The climate of the night lived this night with Chris Namús.

In front of more than 7,000 people the boxing fans were excited and shouted, applauded, shaking their flags. The emotion without limits in all the corners, while Chris and Nicole threw jabs, cross, uppercuts and blows. The merit of these two fine athletes, made not only vibrate the Peñarol Palace, but to all the Uruguay through mass media.
