Ana María Torres to defend title
December 16, 2008

(DEC 16) According to Esto, super flyweight Ana Maria Torres, 16-3-2 (10 KOs), of Mexico City, Mexico, will be defending her world title against Japanese Kasumi Izaki,  7-5-3 (2 KOs), on February 28, 2009.

Izaki fought one time in 2008. In that fight that took place in August, Izaki won by a six-round unanimous decision in the flyweight division over Satoko Kamimura. Izaki will apparently be moving up in weight class to take on Torres.

Torres has fought twice in 2008. She first fought Myung Ok Ryu, defending her WBC super flyweight title, with the 10-rounder ending in a majority draw. Torres then fought for the interim super flyweight WBC belt against Esmeralda Moreno, winning by a 10-round unanimous decision.

The two will be fighting on the undercard of the Erik Ramirez vs. Donnie Neites who will be fighting for the WBO Minimumweight title.

A venue has not been named other than it will take place in Mexico. The card is promoted by KO Entertainment. WBAN will keep boxing fans updated on this upcoming card.
