Fight Night at the Tank Features Two Women’s Bouts
November 7, 2008

(NOV 7) On November 20, 2008, at the boxing event “American Metal & Iron Fight Night at the Tank at the HP Pavilion, in San Jose, California, there will be two women’s bouts on the card.

In one match, Chika Nakamura, of New York, will be fighting Tiffany Junot in a lightweight four rounder. In another bout, Melissa McMorrow, of San Mateo, California will be fighting a four-round junior flyweight bout. Her opponent has not been named.

The evening’s main event will feature Lightweight Bobby Pacquiao (29-14-3, 14 KO's) a native of General Santos City, Philippines. Pacquiao will fight in a 10-round lightweight bout against current Lightweight NABA Champion Robert Frankel (25-9-1, 4 KO’s) out of Denver, CO.

Pacquiao, the current WBO Asia Pacific Lightweight Champion and former WBC Continental Champion is coming off a win over Decho Bankluaygym which ended with a knockout in the eighth round of a twelve round bout.

Pacquiao’s ring experience includes major fights at Madison Square Garden, Hard Rock, and Thomas & Mack against some of the world’s best including Humberto Soto (45-7-2, 29 KO’s) and Hector Velasquez (50-12-2, 35 KO’s)

His major wins include victories over former World Champions Kevin Kelley (60-9-2, 39 KO’s) and Carlos “El Famoso” Hernandez (43-7-1, 24 KO’s).

The Pacquiao brothers train together in Los Angeles with legendary boxing coach Freddie Roach.

American Metal & Iron Fight Night at the Tank welcomes back Bay Area undefeated Light Middleweight Karim Mayfield (6-0-1, 5 KO’s) of Daly City, CA. Mayfield is scheduled for a six round bout. Mayfield a young up and coming fighter known as “Hard Hitta” has been boxing since he was a teenager. From the San Francisco area, Mayfield was a legendary street fighter who despite his size, managed to conquer men twice his size. His 41-6 amateur record includes many honors and awards. He won the San Francisco Golden Gloves in 2006 and was rated #1 in the state.

His most recent fight was on March 20 at HP Pavilion where he fought another Bay Area native Francisco Santana (9-1, 5 KOs).
