Jessica Balogun Wins by TKO
October 5, 2008

(OCT 5) Last night in Neuwieder Heimathaus, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, middleweight Jessica Balogun, 19 years old, of Aachen, Germany, won by a second round TKO over Verena Herrman, 25 years old, who was making her pro debut. The two were scheduled to fight eight rounds.

In the local news [translated from German]. They reported the following. With her athleticism, her explosive power and hard, precise combinations, Balogun would make a far greater attraction than most of the big names of women's boxing in Germany. Balogun overwhelmed her perplexed opponent with a hail of punches.

In the first round, referee J.v. Belinghoven gave Herrman her two standings eight counts and even then she barely survived the round.

In the second, Balogun allowed her no time to catch her breath and nowhere to run. After the first few exchanges, van Belinghoven had seen enough and stopped the fight to spare the brave local girl further punishment.
