Team West's Final words
By Juan West
August 10, 2008

(AUG 10) WBAN has received an open letter by Juan West of Team West, in regards to the on-going saga between Team Cruz and Team West.  Juan West stated the following:

Elizabeth [Villerreal],  the reason we fight in California is because most promoters do not like to promote female fighters, in most cases they promote a local female only, and unfortunately you get calls on a regular basis to be brought in as an opponent.

This is no fault of ours. In reference to your statement that you really won the fight, I don't think all the judges would have scored it a blowout if it had something to do with a supposed hometown decision. I am positive the judges would have scored it as a split decision or a lot closer than 60-54 | 60-54 | 59-55. Two of the three judges scored it Kaliesha winning all 6 rounds while only one judge decided to give you one round out of six. I am sorry there scoring couldn't possibly be that far off, our team is working on getting a copy of the fight posted on WBAN to answer any doubts.

In hearing the news of your statement Kaliesha wanted to respond to you personally by saying, "I'm a humble fighter and it is out of my character to talk trash.  I strongly believe that my actions speak louder than words, in regards to your response let me make this clear.  I moved up two weight classes to fight you and you didn't do your job and knock the smaller girl out, that shows what caliber of a fighter you are which gives you no room to talk."

Elizabeth we have all the respect in the world for you and you are a tough competitor. We appreciate you coming out to fight us and Team West would like to wish you luck with your career and all your endeavors.

As for Mr. Steve Mestas,

Here is a word of advice don't throw bricks when you live in a glass house. The opponent your going to face for the NABF bantamweight title is truly a former flyweight.  Kaliesha is young and only getting better, Terri is old [37 years old] and only getting older, and your opponent is even older at 42 years of age.  It disappoints me that your personal relationship and feelings with Cruz as well as you being her promoter has been exposed and now has jeopardized a business decision. We wish you the best of luck on your guaranteed win for the NABF title.
