Guerrero and Moreno Join Forces to Stop Gang Violence
Source: PR

August 1, 2008

(AUG 1) Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero and Carina "La Reina" Moreno join forces with Captain Richard Calderon and the San Jose Police Department for the 25th annual "National Night Out", a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. Leaders will congregate at the Alma Community Center (136 W Alma Ave, San Jose, CA 95110) Tuesday August 5, 2008 at 6pm. The gang impacted youth in the Alma, Goodyear Mastic, and Tamien communities, are the subject of focus. Alma is a gang impacted area in San Jose.

"National Night Out" is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships while sending a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Last years (NNO) involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 35 million people participated in (NNO) 2007. For more information on Nation Night Out.

Quotes by Guerrero and Moreno

This is a great event that I'm honored to be a part of. I know that the foundation of are children is a key focus to building a better future for us all. Everyone should come out and support this event." Former Two-time World Champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero

"I'm inspired to be part of this event. Right now gangs are a problem in most major cities. The violence needs to stop and we as a people need to unite and make this world a better place." Three-time World Champion Carina "La Reina" Moreno
