Sitzes Responds to Washington
April 10, 2008

(APR 10) On April 8th,  WBAN received a press release from Terry Washington of Right Cross Entertainment this week, in regards to Washington (Boxing Trainer) and Jeri Sitzes deciding to go their separate ways.

Jeri Sitzes contacted WBAN earlier today, and gave a written response to the release from Washington.  Sitzes said the following:

"I'd like to take this time to thank Terry [Washington] for all his hard work the past few years. He helped me up my game in boxing which led to several straight wins including a championship in 06'.   I've always had the utmost respect for him and trusted him as a friend and a trainer. I am surprised that he sent a press release stating our trainer/fighter breakup...and even worse to insinuate that I do not love my sport.

Outside of the ring,  I am one of the least confrontational people you will ever meet but I can't keep quiet on this one. Like most boxers, I sacrifice being away from my family for weeks and traveling at my own expense across several states to train in camp. I somehow help support my family on the chump change that I make in fights and take the risk on getting injured. I know about the love, passion, focus, intensity and intelligence that you have to put in because I live it.

After my last bout with Lisa Brown, the embarrassment Terry suffered was made very clear to me. I made a potentially easy fight close and it cost me a championship. I accept fault 100% and learned from my mistake and will move on to redeem myself.

I know trainers' also put their time on the line and I am not without gratitude but I also know a trainer should never degrade their fighter but bring out the best in them. It's unfortunate that this situation was even made public. I sincerely wish Terry the best and hope he finds a fighter who is better suited with his training style. Thank you,
Jeri"
