(APR 10) Women's boxing is on the rise
in Trinidad and Tobago. Jizelle Salandy is the shinning star that is
leading the way; she has the full support of her country and thus
far she is making her country proud. Our Honorable Prime Minister
was on hand to congratulate her and share in her success. It only
goes to show that we have a sporting friendly Government who takes
an interest in all sports. Without the assistance of the Government
of Trinidad and Tobago and the vision of my promotion Salandy's
career would not have been where it is today and we thank our
Government greatly for that.
Jizelle is also appreciative of the Government of Trinidad and
Tobago and has dedicated her last fight to the Prime Minister of her
country. Also the Minister of Gender Affairs was very forthright in
promoting Jizelle and has offered free academics tuition right up to
University, in order to improve herself and to prepare her for a
life after boxing, a gesture in which Jizelle whole heartedly
embraces. I commend the Government for their thoughtfulness in the
growth and development of their citizens.
Salandy is presently doing an eloquation course at one of our local
University. She would also be given a annual grant to assist her in
her training.
Salandy's next fight would be against the WBC number one contender,
Trisha Turton, on June 7th 2007 at Skinner Park, San Fernando,
Trinidad.

Attach are two pictures of Jizelle
Salandy with The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and the
Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs of
Trinidad and Tobago, in the boxing ring immediately after winning
the fight with Yvonne Reis. Picture I shows the Honorable
Prime Minister, Patrick Manning congratulating Salandy with the WBC
belt across her chest and the National Flag of Trinidad and Tobago.
