(MAR 19) WBAN has received an open
letter from Melissa "Huracan" Hernandez who responded to
Bernie McCoy's article that was
published yesterday.
Hernandez wrote the following: "I'm happy that someone finally
pulled the sheets off on the ranking of Maureen Shea. Being ranked
#1 in WBA when you never fought anyone is a joke. When you had have
fighters like me that already have been in the ring with top ranked
fighters, moving up and down in weight classes to get fights. I've
already been a World Champion in weight that I didn't belong in.
My record though, not as pretty as Shea's is now 6-1-1 (2ko).
I'm looking to help in proving "The Real Million Dollar Baby" isn't
anything but chump change. I want to be the 1st to challenge Team
Shea for the vacant WBA at 130 lbs. I'm ranked #3 in the WBA at
122lbs. and #1 by the WBC. So lets dance. For once Shea can step in
with a real contender. We can fight anywhere and from my side if
Shea beats me I'll give her my purse from the fight that's how much
I know I can't only win but take her to school. This is not a movie

Editor's Note: Hernandez is ranked #4 with WBAN's World
ratings as a junior featherweight. She mentioned her
record, but anyone who knows this sport knows that the record can be
misconceiving. In fact, Hernandez has accumulated an
Opponent Rating Score of 589, and score of 9833 with
WBAN. Maureen Shea at this time is not in our top ten
ratings. WBAN uses independent computerized ratings that was
