(FEB 9) In the news on the IOL Website, it was stated in an article dated, February 7th,  that Laila Ali would be traveling to South Africa, in early August for a bout against Ann Wolfe. WBAN called promoter Brian Young of Prize Fight Promotions, who has been promoting Ann Wolfe, to see if this article was accurate, and if in fact the fight was in the making.

Young said that discussions had been taking place between Prize Fight and Damon Bigham, Laila Ali’s Team. He said that they made a lucrative offer of $500,000 purse for Laila Ali to fight Ann Wolfe on PPV in Tennessee. This offer also had other additional financial benefits that went with this offer.  Young said that the offer was in writing.  

Young said that Ali’s Team turned down the fight, and that  they [Team Ali] wanted the fight to take place in South Africa.

WBAN also contacted Dana Venard, of Team Wolfe, and asked about the article in regards to fighting Ali in South Africa. 

Dana said, “No, there is no truth to this story. In fact, this is the first that we have heard of it. Ann has been getting phone calls, and she has been telling people she doesn't know anything about it.”
