(APR 16) Last night at the Maritim Hotel, in Magdeburg, Germany, there were three women's bouts on the card.

Germany's Natascha Ragosina, 168,  retained her WIBF belt and gained the GBU belt by a TKO win over United States, Carlette Ewell, 173 1/4.  The referee stopped the fight 1:23 into the fifth round.

Ewell was a very game opponent and managed to put pressure on Ragosina when she got in close, but she had to work very hard to get in there. As the fight progressed, Ragosina took full advantage of her longer reach and her very good boxing skills.

Ewell kept coming forward, but her attempts to close was paid for by a lot of good jabs from Ragosina. Halfway into to fifth round, Ewell was stunned by a hard right hand, and Ragosina set in the chase, resulting in another right that sent Carletta Ewel to the floor. She beat the count, but the renewed bombardment from from Ragosina made the referee stop the fight.

The first women's bout of the evening was between Spotlights newly signed Super Welterweight Karolina Lukasik of Polen whose second pro fight was against Svetlana Adreera of Russia. It turned out to be hard fought, entertaining fight, between two fighters who has both benefited from a very good schooling in the amateur ranks. The bout was won by  Lukasik by unanimous decision.

In another women's bout, Susianna Kentikian was back in the ring after a three-month lay off, after she had to undergo surgery to her right elbow.

Her performance left nobody in doubt, that she is back at full strength. Her opponent, Evgenia Zablotskaja of Russia made her pro debut, after a good amateur career. Although she had a distinctive height and reach advantage, it couldn't prevent her from being "run over" by a very aggressive Kentikian, who used her speed to outbox the taller opponent.


After 1:32 into the second round Zablotskaja's corner threw the towel to prevent further punishment. We look forward to see this very exiting boxer in the ring against more experienced pro boxers in the future.

Armenian Susianna Kentikian has a very busy schedule these days. Sunday she will appear at the Pan Armenian Games in Duisburg as a guest of honor along with her fellow Armenian Arthur Abraham, who is the current IBF world champion.
