(JAN 29) Last Night at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Noriko Kariya, 116, of Jersey City NJ, won a four-round unanimous decision over Maria Lucy Contreras, 115, of Houston, TX. The two fought on the undercard of the Gatti-Damgaard mainliner.
Noriko wasted little time in dominating the fight, when in the first round she clipped Contreras with a right hand that rocked Contreras.   Noriko continued her attack with Contreras clinching to avoid her.  Kariya was sharper and faster this night.
Final judges scores were 40-36, 40-37 and 39-37, all for Noriko.  The crowd loved the fight---and some say that it was as action packed, if not more than some of the male bouts on the card.
