Press Conference to be held to announce boxing card
June 9, 2005

(JUN 9) A press conference to announce the professional boxing card and introduce many of the fighters to the media is set for Tuesday June 14th at the elegant Cibo Restaurant Downtown Monterey.

On Saturday July 2nd, THE RIOT moves from the Hyatt to the Conference Center Downtown, for the first ever Professional Boxing event at the 1500 seat venue. "We've outgrown our previous home, and can accomidate several hundred more fans at the Serra Ballroom in the Conference Center downtown" states promoter/matchmaker Jerry Hoffman of Santa Cruz. Hoffman has lined up an outstanding 6 bout fight card with 7 undefeated boxers...including 3 matches where those prospects go head to head.

The three "Battles of the unbeatens" include a State Title bout between two of the top women boxers in the world at Flyweight. #2 Ranked Carina Moreno of Watsonville at 7-0, is challenged by 4-0 Julie Rubalcava of Garden Grove. The two female stars normally fight in weight classes 12 pounds apart, but the women warriors are meeting halfway for at 112 pound championship bout. Another outstanding battle of top prospects matches 4-0 Joel Santiago of Las Vegas against 3-0 Sadot Vazquez of Keene Texas in a featherweight showdown. Additonally, Heavyweight George Garcia who is spotless as a pro at 7-0, takes on 5-0 Eddie Neal of Fresno. 3 other bouts are slated and those will be announced at the press conference June 12th at Cibo Restaurant.
