(JULY 28) Paul
Brown, Tonya Harding manager-trainer is in the process of protesting
Harding's last fight that took place on June 25, 2004, in Edmonton,
Canada, against Amy Johnson. Brown showed the tape to the Edmonton Sun, and
after Scott Zerr of the Sun viewed the tape, he wrote, “The planned protest
of the outcome of the Amy Johnson/Tonya Harding fight could have some legs
to it.”The
dispute centers in the second round of the bout when Harding landed a right
hook to Johnson connecting on the chin, knocking Johnson to the canvas.
Johnson did get up quickly from the knockdown, but apparently she began
waving her hands across her chest. She then immediately walked to her
corner and took out her mouthpiece. Brown’s claim is that Tonya won right
there with a second round TKO.
WBAN spoke with Brown
today by phone, and he confirmed that this protest has been presented to the
commission. WBAN requested a copy of the tape, and will hopefully have the
second round video streamed for boxing fans to view and give their opinion
on this dispute! Stay tune!
